Petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil washing project in Ningxia, China
Project Type
Heavy metal pollution
Oil pollution
Project Capacity
30 TPH
Project Completion
processing
Date
Sep 2024
Project location:
The Second Additive Plant, located in Majiatan Town, Lingwu City,Ningxia, this facility was formerly known as Majiatan Refinery. It was shut down in 2004 following the State Council's mandate to close small refineries. In 2020, it was listed as a first-level priority control site by China National Petroleum Corporation.
Risk Assessment:
The soil in the project area was found to contain pollutants such as petroleum hydrocarbons(C6-C9 and C10-C40), benzene, ethylbenzene, dibenz(a,h)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene, chloroform, among others. These pollutants pose health risks that exceed acceptable levels, necessitating remediation.
Treated soil:
Approximately 180,000 square meters of soil will be treated. The soil is primarily sandy, with 90% having a total petroleum hydrocarbon (C6-C40) concentration below 50,000 mg/kg, and about 10% having a concentration above 50,000 mg/kg.
Treatment Process:
Combined remediation operations of soil washing, and biopile.
Desen is responsible for the soil washing part of the project, utilizing the latest petroleum hydrocarbon soil washing remediation equipment. The amount of remediation work is about 180,000 square meters.
