Urban trench sludge—mixtures of sediment, oil, and domestic waste from drainage pipes—often causes clogging, groundwater pollution, and land contamination if dumped untreated. Traditional landfill methods for trench sludge have low reduction rates (less than 30%) and waste valuable sand resources.

Desen’s trench sludge washing plant changes this with a "screening + washing + dehydration" closed-loop process. First, it separates large impurities (bricks, plastic) via a coarse screen, then uses a custom chemical agent to dissolve oil and pollutants. The sludge is then dehydrated into cake with less than 60% moisture, and the wastewater is treated to meet discharge standards or recycled for washing. In a Shanghai urban drainage project, the vehicle processed 50 cubic meters of trench sludge daily, reducing volume by 70% and recovering sand for use in municipal greening.
